元功能显化视角下《毛泽东选集》(第一卷)英译的语域特征多维分析

A Multidimensional Analysis of Register Features in Selected Works of Mao Tse-tung I from the Perspective of Meta-functional Explicitation

本研究基于《毛泽东选集》(第一卷)的外文社版和劳伦斯版英译文建立汉英平行语料库,运用多维分析法考察其语域差异,比较两个译本在元功能层面上的显化差异。研究发现:(1)两个译本存在语域差异,67个语法特征中有15个存在较大差异,外文社版信息抽象及指称明晰度更高;(2)概念和语篇系统均呈现显化趋势,但存在程度差异,外文社版更关注政治事件的过程,而劳伦斯版倾向于将革命冲突归因于各类环境成分。译本间的语言特征差异反映出译本元功能显化与事件的交互影响,一定程度上是译者、文化与社会等多因素互动的结果。

Based on the Chinese-English parallel corpus of Selected Works of Mao Tsetung I from Foreign Language Press and Lawrence Press,this paper uses multidimensional analysis to investigate the register differences,and compares the label frequency at metafunctional level.It finds that register differences exist between the two versions,15 out of the 67 lexical and grammatical features differ greatly.The version of Foreign Language Press has a higher degree of information abstraction and reference clarity.The concept and discourse systems of two versions show a trend of explicitation,but there are differences in degree.The version of Foreign Language Press pays more attention to the processes and participants of political events,and Lawrence Press version attributes the revolutionary conflict to various environmental elements.It argues that the differences in language features of different versions reflect the interaction between meta-function explicitation and events in the translation,which is to some extent the result of the interaction of translators,culture,society and other factors.
