Kurdish Nationalism and Theories of Nationalism

本文旨在为库尔德民族主义的研究奠定一定的理论基础,但目的并非要创建一种新的民族主义理论来解释库尔德民族主义,而是要探索以现有的民族主义理论解释库尔德民族主义的可能性。如果现有理论不能实现此目的,那么需要找出这些理论存在的问题和缺陷。结果表明,本文的研究与其他关于库尔德民族主义的理论研究之间存在明显的差异。库尔德民族主义并不完全符合经典民族主义理论框架,除非首先研究承担民族运动重任的新库尔德人的身份的产生和演变。如果没有事先分析库尔德人身份的特殊性,或者没有分析现有库尔德民族主义的发展基础,那么,按照西方标准对库尔德民族主义进行分类的尝试将是徒劳的。

The article aims to establish a theoretical basis for the approach of Kurdish nationalism.The aim is not to build a new theory of nationalism that would interpret Kurdish nationalism,but to explore the possibility that existing theories of nationalism could explain Kurdish nationalism and,if they could not,identify the causes of this weakness.My research outcomes show the existence of a significant difference,which is located in relation to other studies that have already studied Kurdish nationalism.Kurdish nationalism does not fully fit within the framework of classical theories of nationalism,unless the creation and evolution of the new Kurdish identity,which"bore"the weight of the national movement,is first investigated.Without a prior analysis of the specificities of Kurdish identity or at least the bases on which Kurdish nationalism was developed,the attempt to categorize Kurdish nationalism according to Western standards is futile.
