城镇化进程中的美貌溢价:越漂亮,市民化水平越高吗

Beauty Premium in the Process of Urbanization:Can Better-looking Raise the Level of Citizenization

利用CLDS(2016)数据,对作为天生禀赋的美貌是否是促进农业人口有效融入城市的重要因素,从事实和机制方面进行了探讨。研究发现,农业转移人口的长相越好,市民化水平就越高,该效应在不同的维度上都显著存在,但呈现出性别差异。分维度的机制分析表明:美貌对女性经济能力的溢价作用小于学历的作用;美貌通过社会网络提高了男性的社会适应水平;受"郎才女貌"社会偏好的影响,美貌对文化习得影响中的职业门槛效应仅在女性中存在;非认知能力和公平感知在美貌提升心理认同水平的过程中发挥了中介作用,即美貌通过提升非认知能力和公平感知,增强了农业人口对城市社会的认同感和归属感。

Based on the data from China Labor-force Dynamics Survey(2016),the paper mainly explored the effect of good-looking on the urban inclusion of rural immigrant population from the perspectives of facts and mechanism.The research revealed that,better-looking immigrant population had higher-level citizenization in different dimensions,which showed gender differences.The mechanism analysis of sub-dimensions showed that,the premium effect of physical appearance on females’economic ability was less than that of education.Physical appearance could enhance males’social adaptability level through social networks.Because of the social preference of“the beauty and the geek”,the occupational threshold effect in the influence of beauty on cultural acquisition only existed in female group.Non-cognitive ability and perceived fairness both played an important mediating role in enhancing the psychological identity level of physical appearance,that is,physical appearance finally strengthened the sense of identification and the sense of belonging through improving non-cognitive ability and perceived fairness.
