Microscope and X-ray,as modern medical technology,have been common.The use value makes people forget that they once played an important role in the field of mass entertainment and political thought as popular visual media in modern China at the turn of 20th century.By investigating the new visual experience and observation methods brought by this technology,we try to restore the new relationship between them and Chinese observers,which is different from later and may have been forgotten.In addition to entertainment and surprise,the inner view brought by microscope and X-ray,which is invisible to the naked eye,is considered to bring a higher degree of truth.People compare its penetrating vision to a way of observation to explore truth and insight into society,and it is closely related to the discourse about national character.
