The Promoting Role of the May Fourth Movement in the Early Modernization of China

五四运动是伟大的爱国革命运动,标志着中国社会进入新的历史阶段。从思想、政治、文化等角度看,五四运动对中国现代化进程起着重要的推动作用,主要体现在:(1)推动马克思主义先进理论的传播;(2)加速中国共产党的诞生和发展;(3)促进社会成员现代化意识的觉醒;(4)推进民族资本主义的发展;(5)加快新式人才的崛起。

The May Fourth Movement is a great patriotic revolutionary movement,marking the beginning of a newhistorical stage in Chinese society.From the perspectives of ideology,politics and culture,the May Fourth Movementplayed an important role in promoting China’s modernization mainly in the following aspects:(1)promoting thedissemination of advanced Marxist theories;(2)accelerating the birth and development of the Communist Party ofChina;(3)promoting the awakening of the modern consciousness of the social members;(4)promoting the developmentof national capitalism;(5)speeding up the rise of new talents.
