曹雪芹嗜酒如命,其将酒的意象亦贯穿于《红楼梦》始终,使之成为联结故事脉络、丰富人物性格、暗示人物命运及故事走向的重要载体。书中所描述的众多酒宴,有前期展现饮酒之乐的情状的;有体现饮酒之醉境,以醉酒抒发、展现其性情深处之情感的;有体现酒之悲境,呈现“千红一窟,万艳同杯”的情感基调的;有体现酒之空灵之境、表现其至情至性的主旨格调的。凡此种种,共同形塑了《红楼梦》因酒而成的四重境界,丰富了《红楼梦》的思想内涵。

Cao Xueqin regarded wine as important as his life,and the image of wine also runs throughout the Dream of Red Mansions,making it an important carrier to link the story,enrich the characters'personalities,and suggest the fate of the characters and the trend of the story.Generally speaking,among the numerous banquets described in the book,some show the joy of drinking situation,some embody the drunkenness of drinking,express and show the deep emotions of his temperament by drunkenness,some reflect the sad state of wine,presenting“a thousand red caves,ten thousand Yan with the cup”emotional tone,and some show the spirit of the wine,the performance of the mood to the nature of the theme style.All these together constitute the four-fold realm formed by wine in Dream of Red Mansions,which enrich the ideological connotation of Dream of Red Mansions.
