Reflection on Jin Yuelin’s Metaphysics Thought

金岳霖先生自觉运用现代西方逻辑方法,融会中国传统哲学精神,建立了一个以“道”为最高范畴的突出结构与演化的论道体系。他形上学思想的主要特点表现在会通古今的思想特色、融合中西的逻辑构造、“旧瓶装新酒”的创新方法、“何为形上学”及“形上学何为”的问题意识以及关于“科学时代形上学何以可能”的时代之思。他的这种形上学思想对传统形上学问题域、方法论均有所开新,对中国形上学的发展可谓是作出了富有创造性的探索和贡献。

Mr.Jin Yuelin consciously used modern Western logic methods,integrated the spirit of traditional Chinese philosophy,and established a system of discourse on Tao with“Tao”as the highest category,which highlights the structure and evolution.The main characteristics of his metaphysics are reflected in the ideological characteristics of the combination of ancient and modern,the integration of Chinese and Western logical structures,the innovative method of“new wine in old bottles”,the problem consciousness of“what is metaphysics”and“how metaphysics unfolds”,and the thinking of the times about“how metaphysics was possible in the age of science”.His metaphysical thought has made new innovations in the problem domain and methodology of traditional metaphysics,and it can be said that it has made creative exploration and contribution to the development of Chinese metaphysics.
