The Communist Party of Israel(CPI) is one of the few Marxist political parties with legal status in the Middle East.Since its establishment,the Party has struggled to survive between nationalism and internationalism.The grand ideal of proletarian internationalism is constantly colliding with Zionism and Arab nationalism,which leads to frequent internal contradictions.This kind of contradiction within the CPI accompanied by the enhancement of the Arab national consciousness,has become increasingly intensified in the international environment of the Arab-Israeli conflict and the Soviet-American hegemony,which has become an important reason for its division and even the decline of its political influence.Examining the development history of CPI not only helps to accurately understand the party’s dilemma between nationalism and internationalism,but also helps to understand its current politic al participation and survival predicament.
