The article follows the research path of phenomenology and explores the illness experience of individuals with mood disorders in their daily lives, focusing on subjectivity, life world, and intersubjectivity. This exploration is based on an in-depth interview with a college student in the recovery phase of mood disorders,as well as the analysis of his/her diary and correspondence materials.Research has found that the inherent sense of loneliness experienced by individuals during illness stems from the personal subjective negation and powerlessness in communication.Colleges and primary social networks provide constraints, resources, and sources of meaning for student patients in their main life domains. The subtle dynamics of interaction between individuals are reflected in the choice of language symbols and strategies for getting along. This highlights the importance for social workers in the field of mental health to pay attention to the subjective experiences and social-cultural significance behind the illness experience of individuals with mental disorders. It also emphasizes the need to understand the shared symbolic world and the potential for the re-emergence of subjectivity in interpersonal interactions in daily lives,to facilitate the better reintegration of recovery patients into community life.
