Sword Lion in Southern Fujian and Tunkou in Southwest China originate from different historical backgrounds. What they have in common is the"sword in the mouth",and they are the talismans for the psychology of seeking good fortune and avoiding disaster in folk culture. In spite of their similarities in appearance, but there are some other obvious different characteristic in appearance referents, sword inserting methods, color expression, material performance and auspicious representation. These reflect the similar convention and cultural diversity in Chinese folk customs, and also the common pursuit of auspicious meaning in Chinese traditional folk culture.
