With the development of resistance movement in the North American colonies,Anglo-American radicals developed a network based on personal communication and the exchange of ideas and political information.In the construction and operation of this network,both colonials like Arthur Lee and English intellectuals such as Priestley,Burgh and Price played an important role.Under its influence,more and more attention and discussion were paid to the colonial issues and imperial crisis around Britain.On the eve of American Independence,Anglo-American radicals attempted to defend American’s liberty and to stop the Empire from breaking up through lobbying,promoting parliamentary reform and appealing to public opinion.Although these efforts failed,the radicals’network had a profound impact on both the North American colonies and the British Empire.
