New Jiangnan History——From the Diaspora Society to the Integrated Society

对江南历史的研究是国内外中国区域史研究中取得累累硕果的领域,如何进一步推进和深化这一领域的探索,是近年来学术界关注的问题。众多学者已从不同角度对江南水乡的农业开发以及市镇兴起有了丰富的认识,而对这一过程的另一面,即水上人上岸成为定居人群的过程,特别是对在这一过程中人们的能动行为,以及由此造成的社会结构变化及其内在逻辑,了解得还不够多。对这一问题的探讨不仅有助于认识江南社会呈现出已知面貌的"所以然",而且可以帮助我们了解中国社会不同区域发展道路的共性。

The studies on the history of Jiangnan area is a field where there have been numerous research results in the studies of China both at home and aboard.How to make further progress in this field has become an issue of recent academic concern.In the previous studies,scholars usually recognized many about the agricultural development in the Jiangnan watery lands and the rise of the market towns there,but focused no more on the other side of this process,the boat-and-shed living people becoming the settled farmers,particularly on those people’s active behavior in this process,and the social structural changes with its internal logic which these behavior makes.The discussion on this topic will not only help us to know why the society of Jiangnan looks like this and not that,but also help us to realize more about the similarity in the different regional developments of Chinese society.
