传统文学观念假定了符号与所指、符号所指与意识的完美连接,假定了诗歌是连续的经验的统一,假定了形式是透明的,假定了文本是被很好地定义了的同一体。在电子传媒迅速勃兴的时代背景下,耶鲁学派文论家们发现了文学的媒介性,以及文学修辞、文学虚构、文学叙事、文学文本和文学起源的双重性,因而在解构传统同质性文学观的同时,建构出了一种新的文学观:文学(文本)是一种使无数意义错综复杂地交织在一起的话语触媒。

The traditional literature conception assumes a perfect connection between sign and signified,signified and semiotic chora,the unity of poetry as a continuum of experience,the transparency of form,and the well-defined homogeneity of the text.In the context of the rapid emergence of electronic media,literary scholars of Yale School discovered the medium nature of literature and the duality of literary rhetoric,fiction,narrative,text,and origin.Therefore they constructed a new view of literature while deconstructing the traditional homogeneous one:literature(text)is a discursive medium that intricately intertwines myriad meanings.
