民国五台山化祥禅师探微

A Probe into the Chan-master Hua Xiang of Mount Wutai in the Republic of China

民国五台山化祥禅师是被学界长期疏忽的一个重要佛教人物,他在民国被称为当时之“慧能”,出身贫贱,不识字,在赤山法忍处开悟得道,后在五台山、繁峙县、太原、洪洞县等地弘法,影响很大。赤山法忍的法脉通过化祥禅师传到了忻州,忻州禅宗在当时因为化祥禅师而闻名山西、名扬四海,临济宗法脉在忻州得到了较好延续。过去因为缺乏资料,学界对他认识不足,笔者发现关于他的遗漏了近八十年的资料,对这些资料进行补遗,并加以梳理,深入探析。

Chan-master Hua Xiang of Mount Wutai was an important Buddhist figure in the Republic of China who has been neglected by academic circles for a long time.He was known as the“Hui-neng(慧能)”at that time,born poor and illiterate,was enlightened under the guidance of Master Chi Shan,and then he preached Dharma in Mount Wutai,Fanshi County,Taiyuan City,Hongdong County and other places,which had great influence.Master Chi Shan’s religious genealogy was spread to Xinzhou City through Chan-master Hua Xiang,Xinzhou Chan at that time because of he is famous in Shanxi,and even all over the world,Linji-sect genealogy in Xinzhou has been a better continuation.In the past,due to the lack of information,the academic circle was not enough to understand him.The author found the data about him that had been omitted for nearly 80 years,made addendum to these data,sorted them out,and made in-depth analysis.
