摘要
美国女作家卡森·麦卡勒斯的中篇杰作《伤心咖啡馆之歌》在人物塑造方面体现了典型的“阈限”特征。作品塑造了三位主要“阈限人物”:强悍的男人婆艾米莉亚小姐、俊美的恶棍前夫马文、畸形罗锅李蒙表哥。他们处于矛盾的身份阈限和爱情阈限之中,既无法自拔,又不能逾越阈限的樊笼。分析《伤心咖啡馆之歌》中的阈限之人,反映了人类永恒、普遍的爱情和孤独主题,体现了人对于自我和他人认识的局限性和盲目性,以及人与人之间交流的必要性和迫切性。
Carson McCullers,American woman writer,whose novelette masterpiece The Ballad of the Sad Caférepresents typical threshold characteristics in the shaping of characters.The work models three threshold characters:tough,masculine Miss Amelia,handsome wastrel ex-husband Marvin Macy and deformed hunchback Cousin Lymon.They are in contradictory identity threshold and love threshold,they can neither extricate themselves nor escape the cage of threshold.Analyzing the threshold characters in The Ballad of the Sad Caféreflects the themes of human eternal,universal love and loneliness,and represents the limitation and blindness of people's understanding of themselves and others,and the necessity and urgency of communication between people.
