旅美作家严歌苓、张翎、吕红的小说,多年来其创作源泉来自于移民海外的经验,她们另一个创作源泉来自于中国经验,这同样是取之不尽的创作素材。书写中国经验的"故园回望"作品,仍和她们过去写的"故国回望"的题材有点类似。这是由于作者有不短的移民经历,故作品与某些中国作家单一写大陆故事不同,而是呈多元化的风貌。作者知识分子的批判立场,辅以医生解剖刀似的冷静审视,都表现了《患难兄弟》中主人公至死不渝的家园情结和中国情怀。

The Chinese American writers such as Yan Geling,Zhang Ling and Lv Hong have attained their creative sources from their overseas experience for many years.Moreover,they also have attained them from their Chinese experience,which is an inexhaustible source for their writing.When writing the works of"looking back at hometown"with Chinese experience,the writer adopts a similar subject to what she wrote in the past.Because she has lived in overseas for a long time,she writes in a pluralistic style.Therefore,her works are different from the works of some Chinese writers who only write mainland stories.Taking a critical position as an intellectual,the writer examines everything in a calm way and presents the hero’s unswerving homeland complex and Chinese feelings until his death in Brothers in Arms.
