The Translation Rhetoric System and Its Functions

修辞是人类最为古老的研究领域之一。对于翻译的修辞问题,传统的翻译研究往往关注其修辞特性及其修辞格翻译,并未将翻译修辞作为相对独立的领域展开系统研究,从而遮蔽了翻译修辞所蕴含的理论和应用价值。本文通过反思、质疑当下的翻译修辞研究现状,旨在揭示翻译修辞及其研究的特性。本文认为,翻译修辞是一种介乎于原语修辞和目的语修辞之间的相对独立存在,以“第三修辞”形态构成相对自洽的系统,对该系统的研究本身构成相应的系统,发挥相应功能。

Rhetoric represents one of the oldest domains of human inquiry.In the realm of translation studies,traditional studies have predominantly focused on the rhetorical features of translation and the rhetoric translation,failing to take rhetoric as a relatively independent systematic field for research.This has,consequently,obscured the theoretical significance and applicability inherent in the domain of translation rhetoric.This paper,through critical reflection and inquiry of the current translation rhetoric studies,aims to elucidate the nature of translation rhetoric and its study.It holds that translation rhetoric constitutes a relatively independent entity positioned between the rhetoric of the source language and that of the target language,forming a coherent system for exploration in the form of a“third rhetoric”.The study of this system in itself constitutes a corresponding systematic endeavor,outstanding its own set of functions and implications.
