On the Contrast of Differences between Newmark’s Semantic Translation and Venuti’s Foreignization

纽马克的语义翻译和韦努蒂的异化在尊重原著、原作者和保留源语的异国情调等方面颇为相似。尽管两种翻译策略都不同程度地体现了翻译的异化思想,但在理论渊源、研究动因和读者反应三个层面仍存在差异,这种隐藏在表层之下的差异性值得进一步的探索和反思。

Newmark’s semantic translation and Venuti’s foreignization share some similarities in respecting the original version,its author and maintaining the foreignness of source language.Though these two translation strategies both present some thoughts on foreignization of translation to different extent,there are some differences in three aspects of theoretical origin,study causes and readers’reaction.It is these differences hidden behind that deserve our further exploration and reflection.
