The Early Stage of the Dingyao Kiln

早期定窑指的是北宋之前的定窑生产状况。文章以北镇定窑遗址发掘资料为基础,结合涧磁岭地区的唐、五代窑业遗存,对早期定窑的产品面貌进行了总结。早期定窑产品主要有细白瓷、精细白瓷、中白瓷、化妆白瓷、青黄釉瓷、细黑釉瓷、粗黑釉瓷、低温釉陶等,定窑从创烧伊始就确立了以细白瓷产品为主的生产传统。以窑址发掘资料为基础,结合墓葬等遗迹出土的资料及文献记载,文章认为定窑创烧于中唐后期,并在中晚唐时期得到初步发展;经历唐末五代前期的快速发展,在五代后期迎来了窑业发展的第一个高峰,定窑生产传统及产品风格基本形成。早期定窑的发展,对南北方的白瓷生产均产生了重要影响。

The early stage of the Dingyao kiln refers to its production in the period of the pre-Northern Song Dynasty.This paper is based on the archaeological material found in the Beizhen kiln site,integrated with other kiln remains from the Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties in the Jianciling area,and offers a comprehensive summary about the early production in Dingyao.The products from the early stage of Dingyao were mainly the white glazed(including fine white,extra fine white,medium white,and slipped white),but also included porcelains decorated with a green yellow glaze,a fine black glaze,or a coarse black glaze,as well as some lower temperature glazed pottery.Fine white glaze porcelain were the main products of the Dingyao kiln in the early era.Based on the excavation of the kiln,unearthed materials from remains such as tombs,and historical primary resources,this paper argues that Dingyao began porcelain production in the later period of the mid Tang Dynasty and developed initially in the mid to late Tang Dynasty.After its speedy development in the end of Tang Dynasty to the early Five Dynasties,Dingyao reached the first peak of its production in the late Five Dynasties when the unique traditional techniques and style of its products were formed.The development of the early stage of Dingyao had a strong influence on white porcelain production in both south and north of China.
