Some Thoughts on the Questions about "the Western Zhou Epic"

自从西方古典学的史诗观念引入中国,学者就开始思考中国文学是否存在史诗的问题。他们对"西周史诗"问题展开了学术讨论,持否定意见和持肯定意见的论争在各个时期呈现不同的态势,且延至当下。因此,对20世纪以来"西周史诗"问题的论证进行较为细致的学术梳理,检讨与反思持否定意见和肯定意见各自蕴藏的学理性和合法性,对理解和认识史诗的观念、促进中西文学的交流有着重要的学术价值和现实意义。

Since the western classical concept of epic was introduced into China,scholars of Chinese literature have begun to think about whether there were epics in Chinese literature.They have carried out academic discussions focusing on"the Western Zhou Epic".Till today,there are various arguments with negative and positive opinions showing different trends in different periods.Therefore,it is of great academic value and practical significance to review and reflect on the academic rationality and legitimacy of the negative and positive views on the issue since the twentieth century.It is also significant to understand and appreciate the concept of epic so that the academic exchange between Chinese and Western literature could be promoted.
