The T-shaped rings emerged in Southeast Asia during the late Neolithic period and continued into the early Iron Age.They are one of the most typical prehistoric ornaments on the Southeast Asian mainland.Due to their special shape, they have long attracted scholarly attention and our understanding has deepened with the increasing number of finds and related research. This paper discusses the date and nature of the archaeological cultures in which T-shaped rings appear, their time of emergence, their association with jue jade rings, and their connection with the emergence of agriculture, showing how the T-shaped jade ring spread through the Pearl River into northern Vietnam and then expanded throughout the Southeast Asian mainland.
