The Origin and Formation of Chinese Civilization

中华文明就是中华民族所拥有的高度发达、长期延续的物质、精神和制度创造的综合实体。距今8000多年有了文化上早期中国的萌芽,进入中华文明起源的第一阶段。距今约6000年正式形成文化上的早期中国,进入中华文明起源的第二阶段。距今约5100年中华文明形成,进入“古国文明”阶段。距今约4100年进入夏代和“王国文明”阶段。中华文明具有“一元”宇宙观和“多支一体”格局,是一种独特的“天下文明”模式。“天下文明”模式,连同敬天法祖、诚信仁爱、和合大同等文化基因,是中华文明连续发展至今的根本原因。

Chinese civilization is an integrated entity which is created by highly-developed and long-lasting materials,spirits and institutions of the Chinese nation.Culturewise,Early China began to bud more than 8,000 years ago,which is the first stage of Chinese civilization’s origin. About 6,000 years ago,Early China was formally founded culturally,which is the second stage of Chinese civilization’s origin. Around 5,100 years ago,Chinese civilization took shape,and became an “ancient country civilization”. The Xia dynasty was established about 4,100 years ago,and from then on,Chinese civilization entered the stage of “kingdom-based civilization”. Chinese civilization is featured with a“unitary”world view,and a “diverse but unified”pattern,so we may describe it as a unique mode called “tianxia( all under heaven) civilization”. “Tianxia civilization”,along with cultural genes such as “worshiping god and abiding ancestors”,“integrity and benevolence”,and “peace,harmony,and datong( great unity) ”,is the essential reason why Chinese civilization has spanned over thousands of years and continued uninterrupted to this day.
