摘要
在中国传统的小儿保育过程中,寄名佛寺道观曾是一种比较常见的习俗,在今天的许多地方仍然流行;寄名习俗也有许多变种,如嵌名神佛、起贱名、认干亲、偷名等;寄名习俗可以追溯到东汉时期,从现代学术的观点来看,寄名实际上是小儿成人之前的一种藏名行为,这跟名字的语言崇拜有一定的关系。
In the tradition of children-rearing,entrusting the names to Buddha is a very common practice in China.The practice has also developed into many variations,such as naming the children with the words like Buddha,Samgha,or something related to Buddha,naming the children with vulgar things,entrusting the children to nominal kinships,stealing others’names,etc.The origin of the custom could be traced back to East Han dynasty,almost 1700 years ago.Entrusting children’s names to Buddha is actually apractice of hiding the real names,which is much related to the primitive language worship.
