The May 4th Spirit Shines Forever——A Summary of the Symposium to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the May 4th Movement

在纪念五四运动100周年学术研讨会上,与会学者以习总书记重要讲话为指导,畅谈了五四运动的时代意义。纪念五四运动就是要在新时期继承五四前辈舍舍身忘我的精神,坚定共产主义理想信念,坚持走与工农群众相结合的道路;要确立五四运动化腐朽为神奇的历史定位,深刻阐述毛泽东思想和习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想对纪念五四运动的重要意义;深入探究五四运动的真实状况,有助于我们理解只有马克思主义才能引领中华民族不断前进的真理;必须批判资产资产阶级民主,充分认识到从五四运动以来在马克思主义指导下的民主也就是社会主义民主才是真正的民主;对五四运动中的批孔现象要做历史的辩证的分析,充分认识到当时批孔的必然性和必要性;只有恰当处理精英与大众的关系,才能准确把握五四运动对民众地位的质的提升。

At the academic seminar to commemorate the 100 th anniversary of the May4 th Movement,the scholars attending the meeting talked about the significance of the May4 th Movement under the guidance of General Secretary Xi ’ s important speech. Commemorating the May 4 th Movement is to inherit the spirit of the May 4 th generation to give up their selfishness,to strengthen the communist ideal and belief,and to persist in the road of combining with the workers and peasants. It is necessary to establish the historical position of the May 4 th Movement which turned corruption into magic,and profoundly expounds the significance of Mao Zedong Thought and Xi Jinping’ s Thought of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era in commemorating the May 4 th Movement. Understanding the real situation of the May 4 th Movement could help us understand that only Marxism can lead the Chinese nation to march forward. We must criticize the bourgeois democracy,and realize that the democracy under the guidance of the Marxism since the May 4 th Movement is the socialist democracy,namely true democracy. We should analyze the phenomenon of criticizing Confucianism in the May 4 th Movement dialectically and historically,and realize the inevitability and necessity of criticizing Confucianism at that time. Only by properly dealing with the relationship between the elite and the people,can we accurately grasp the quality of the May 4 th Movement on the status of the people.
