Measure the Distance to Cross the Border——An Overview of the China Session of Raymond Williams Centenary Symposiums

2021年是西方重要的马克思主义者和文化研究创始人雷蒙·威廉斯诞辰一百周年。英国斯旺西大学举办了一系列专题研讨会以纪念这位伟大的思想家。系列研讨会之中国专场由斯旺西大学与深圳大学联合举办,邀请了来自中国社科院、上海交通大学、浙江大学、香港岭南大学、青岛大学和深圳大学的六位威廉斯研究学者做了专题发言,从世界文学、悲剧思想、审美人类学、乡村文化思想等视角对威廉斯展开了深入探讨。会议吸引了来自中国、英国、巴西、日本等世界各地的听众,极大地促进了中外威廉斯研究学者的交流,同时也扩大了中国学者的国际影响力。

Raymond Williams has been known to us as one of the most important Western Marxists and the founder of Cultural Studies.To celebrate Williams’s centennial birthday,Swansea University held a series of symposiums to commemorate this great thinker.The China Session was jointly organized by Swansea University in Britain and Shenzhen University in China.Six Williams scholars,respectively from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences,Shanghai Jiao Tong University,Zhejiang University,Lingnan University of Hong Kong,Qingdao University and Shenzhen University,were invited to deliver keynote speeches on diverse topics,ranging from world literature,tragic theory,to aesthetic anthropology and Williams’s thought on rural culture.The China symposium attracted audiences from China,the United Kingdom,Brazil,Japan and other parts of the world,which greatly promoted the exchanges between Williams scholars in China and those overseas,and at the mean time expanded the international influence of Chinese scholars.
