Mao Ze-dong Is the Greatest Giant in Chinese History:A Review of Mao Studies Abroad in the Last Decade

近十年来,毛泽东研究仍是国外中国问题研究的热点和重点,产生了一系列新成果。据不完全统计,国外学界出版相关学术专著50余部,包括期刊论文与研究报告在内的相关文献千余篇,还出版了数部关于毛泽东的文献资料集。研究内容涉及毛泽东评价、毛泽东形象、毛泽东领导力、毛泽东哲学思想、毛泽东新民主主义论、毛泽东最后十年、毛泽东与中国外交、毛泽东军事思想、毛泽东及其思想的当代价值和国际影响、毛泽东人文学等方面,实现了毛泽东研究向多领域、多层次和多维度发展。在新时代视野下,国内学界应紧紧把握毛泽东研究的国际话语权,不断提高毛泽东研究的学术水平和学术质量。

In the past decade,studies of Mao Ze-dong have remained one of the highlights and focuses of China studies overseas,and a series of new results emerged,which promoted the continual and in-depth development of Mao Ze-dong studies worldwide.According to incomplete statistics,foreign academic circles have published some 50 related academic monographs,more than a thousand relevant documents including journal papers and research reports,and several collections of literature on Mao Ze-dong.The research covers the evaluation of Mao Ze-dong,Mao’s image,his leadership,his philosophical thought,his new democratic theory,the last decade in his life,Mao Ze-dong and Chinese diplomacy,Mao’s military thought,the contemporary value and international influence of Mao Ze-dong and his thought,and Mao’s humanities research,as the studies of Mao Ze-dong evolve into multiple fields,multiple levels and multiple dimensions.Under the vision of the new era,the domestic academic circles should firmly grasp the international discourse of Mao Ze-dong studies and continually improve the academic level and research quality in this regard.
