Strategic Research on Self Writing and Translation of the Writer

林语堂、萧乾、余光中和白先勇都是蜚声海内外的作家,但同时也从事过翻译活动。他们翻译的对象,既包括外国人的作品,也涉及他们自己的作品。原作者和译者的双重身份对具体的翻译实践会产生怎样的影响呢?笔者带着这样的问题对这几位译者在翻译自己的作品时采用的翻译策略进行了考察,同时还考察了他们翻译他人作品时采用了怎样的翻译策略。通过比较笔者发现:译者在翻译自创作品的时候表现出一些规律性的特点。本文抽样考察这些译文,试图在对这些译文与原文进行对照的基础上,找出具体的删改或是增加的内容,并在此基础上进行系统的分类、描述,然后结合目的论,从译者主体性的角度进行分析与解释,从而揭示出译者自译自写作品的特点与规律及成因。

Lin Yutang,Xiao Qian,Yu Guangzhong and Bai Xianyong are all well-known writers at home and abroad,but they have also been engaged in translation activities.They translate both foreigners’works and their own.How does the dual identity of the original author and translator affect their translation practice?With this question,the author investigated the translation strategies adopted by these translators when translating their own works,and also examined the translation strategies they adopted when translating others’works.By comparison,it is found that the translator shows some regular characteristics when translating his own works.This article examines these translations in a sample,tries to find specific deletions or additions on the basis of comparing these translations with the original,and systematically classifies and describes on this basis.Analysis and interpretation from the perspective of subjectivity reveals the characteristics,rules and causes of the translator’s self-translated and selfwritten works.
