Key to Pathogenesis of Depression from Perspective of “Spleen Soil Being Deficiency and Monarch Fire Being not Generated”

抑郁症是一种常见的精神心理类疾病。在中医看来,精神心理活动是气机运动的表现,气机运动失常,则人体罹患精神心理类疾病。抑郁症是否发病取决于两个方面:一者,脾虚致心气不足;二者,强烈的精神刺激。在抑郁症的发病过程中,脾虚是抑郁症的病理基础,脾虚则心气不足,子病及母,在此基础上人体受到强烈精神刺激,心气无法调畅,膻中之气无所出,郁而发病。在抑郁症的病程进展过程中,脾居中央,土枢四象,五脏中皆有脾气,脾气郁则五脏气郁,最终使五脏之神魂魄意志皆无所主,从而出现情绪低落、思维迟缓、意志活动减退等症状。抑郁症的核心病机为脾虚心抑,脾虚是抑郁症病程进展的枢纽。抑郁症的治则为调和心脾,治法为健脾养心,调畅情志。

Depression is a common mental-psychological disease.In the view of traditional Chinese medicine,mental and psychological activity is a specific manifestation of Qi movement.If Qi movement is abnormal,the body will suffer from mental and psychological diseases.The key to determine the occurrence of depression depends on two aspects.The first is deficiency of spleen leads to deficiency of heart-Qi.The second is strong mental stimulation.In the process of depression,spleen deficiency is the pathological basis of depression.Spleen deficiency means deficiency of heart-Qi,and child-organ disorder involves its mother-organ.On this basis,after the body is strongly stimulated by the spirit,the heart-Qi cannot be regulated properly.The Qi in Danzhong can be exhausted which lead to illness attack.In the development process of depression,the spleen is in the center,and commands heart,liver,lung and kidney.There is spleen-Qi in five Zang-organs actually.The spleen-Qi stagnation also can cause the Qi stagnation of five Zang-organs.Eventually,the Chinese spirit,soul,corporeal soul,will and ambition of five Zang-organs are all at naught,resulting in such symptoms as depressed mood,slow thinking and decreased willpower activity.The core pathogenesis of depression is spleen deficiency and depressed heart.Spleen deficiency is the key to the progress of depression.The principle of treatment of depression is to harmonize heart and spleen,and the treatment is to strengthen spleen and nourish heart,and adjust the mood.
