Ethics and Genetically Modified Foods

本文认为,对于转基因作物在伦理上的可接受性问题,以下三种伦理性思考集中产生了一个共同的积极答案:(1)各国人民有权利选择采用转基因技术;(2)转基因技术可能对消费者和环境造成的益处与危害的平衡;(3)鼓励转基因技术的发现、创新和审慎监管的智慧。

This article argues that three sorts of ethical considerations converge to yield a common positive answer to the question of the ethical acceptability of GM crops:(1)the rights of people in various countries to choose to adopt GM technology;(2)the balance of likely benets over harms to consumers and the environment From GM technology;and(3)the wisdom of encouraging discovery,innovation,and careful regulation of GM technology.
