This article is Professor Heiner Klemme's preface to the Chinese edition of his Collected Papers,The Self-preservation as Rational Being.In this paper,the author begins with the critical attitude of late German philosophy towards Kantian ethics and discusses the question of whether Kant's practical philosophy,with Enlightenment and reason at its core,can still have any significance and value beyond the limits of its time.
