晚清驻外使节对西学的探索及认识——以曾纪泽为切入点

The Exploration and Understanding of Western Learning by Foreign Envoys of the Late Qing Dynasty —— Taking Zeng Jize as the Starting Point

曾纪泽,晚清著名外交家,政治家。面对西方列强纷至沓来的侵略与中国落后闭塞的局面,为抵御外侮,实现自强,以曾纪泽为代表的知识分子主动走上了探索西学的道路。其对西学的探索包括:以军事长技为代表的器物层面;发展工商以富国强民的经济层面;提倡仿效西方制度的政治层面。处在传统社会向近代社会转型的特殊时期,其对西学的认识呈现出鲜明的时代特征和浓厚的传统色彩。

Zeng Jize was a famous diplomat and statesman in the late Qing Dynasty.In the face of the aggression of the Western powers and the backwardness of China,in order to resist foreign insults and achieve self-improvement,the intellectuals represented by Zeng Jize took the initiative to explore the road of Western learning.Their exploration of Western studies included the object level represented by strengthening military force,the economic aspect of developing industry and commerce to make the people rich and the country powerful,and the political level of imitating the Western system.In the special period of the transition from traditional society to modern society,their understanding of Western learning showed distinct characteristics of the times and strong traditional features.
