An Ice-breaking Trip in the Cross-strait Scientific Communication Commemorating the 30th anniversary of Mr. Wu Tayou visiting mainland

1992年吴大猷先生访问祖国大陆,对开辟海峡两岸学术界对话、交流,乃至政治对话有着重要意义。本文作者亲历了访问全程,讲述了吴大猷先生在北京的学术和交流活动,以及后续的探亲之旅。本文还回顾了海峡两岸试图通过科技交流并进行政治接触的尝试,及直接协商解决共同加入国际科学组织的问题。

Mr. Wu Tayou visited mainland in 1992, which has great significance in the establishment of dialogue and communication between cross-strait academic communities. As a companion of the trip, the author described Wu’s academic and communicating activities in Beijing and another trip to Canton. The article also traced the earlier attempting high-level exchanges by scientific communication, and solving the problem of representatives in the international scientific organizations by direct negotiation.
