An Interpretation of Metaphor Meaning from the Perspective of Normative Inferentialism

隐喻是一种特殊的语言现象,由于隐喻意义具有非字面性等特性,阐释隐喻的意义,需要兼顾隐喻生成和理解的文化背景、情境等诸多因素。历史地看,尽管语义法、语用法等隐喻及其意义诠释方法提出了许多的洞见,但它们也存在着难以克服的问题。鉴于规范推理主义能够为意义的诠释提供一个通用的框架,并因它在意义诠释之始就涵盖了语境等信息,因而可以用来为隐喻意义的诠释提供一种简便而有效的方法。

Metaphor is a special linguistic phenomenon.Because of non-literal and other characteristics of metaphor meaning,it is necessary to take into account some factors such as the cultural background and the situation in which metaphor meaning is generated and understood when interpreting metaphor meaning.Historically,although approaches of interpreting metaphors and their meanings such as semantic approaches,pragmatic approaches have put forward many insights,they also have problems that are difficult to overcome.Normative inferentialism can provide a simple and effective manner for interpreting metaphor meaning,because it can provide one general framework for the interpretation of meaning and incorporate information such as context at the beginning of interpreting meaning.
