With the introduction of service robots(for instance the robots for elderly care)into daily life, the prospectus of the society for Human-Robot-Co-existence will be within sight. There are long, though diverging, traditions both in Japan and Europe and America of the discussion of ethics in relation to the treatment of the machinery and eventually robots. These are mainly ascribed to the varying traditions of religion and of the intellectual thinking on the concept of human and humanhood. In China, however, the emerging field of robot ethics is rather new,not to mention the notion of robot culture, due to the fact there lacks a tradition of robot narratives. The paper aims to point out three directions of discussion in the future study of robot ethics in the Chinese context. It is highly necessary for Chinese society to deal with ethical issues arising in connection with uses of robots,as,on the one hand,China is already far behind in robot ethics, and on the other hand, certain beliefs of Chinese traditional ethics will surely provide an intercultural perspective in ethical inquires on robots. This study, though preliminary,is expected to induce others to come forward with valuable contributes.
