《腹语师的女儿》英译本中的情感再现研究——基于英国青少年读者书评的分析

On the Representation of Emotions in the English Version of The Ventriloquist’s Daughter--Based on the Book Reviews by British Teenagers

摘要 在评价中国儿童文学对外译介的效果时,当前的研究主要聚焦于以成人读者为主体的专业人士和普通读者的反馈,而鲜有对儿童和青少年读者的关注。本文以奇幻儿童小说《腹语师的女儿》(The Ventriloquist’s Daughter)的英译本为研究对象,基于英国利兹大学当代华语文学研究中心刊登的英国普通青少年读者书评,探究该作品在目标语读者群中得到积极接受的原因。研究发现,虽然英国青少年读者对小说的阅读感悟不尽相同,但集中展现了两点共性:一是在阅读中获得强烈的情感体验,二是增加了对中国文化的了解。本文主要聚焦于英译本中的情感再现。通过对中英文版本的定性与定量对比分析,可以看出,英译本通过多种途径,凸显了原作中人物的心理感受和情感冲突,使读者产生强烈的共情。儿童和青少年的阅读反馈对提升中国儿童文学对外译介效果起到了积极作用,应引起学界更多的重视。 When evaluating the reception of the Chinese children's literature works overseas,the current researches mainly focus on the feedback of professional critics and ordinary readers,who are predominantly adults,while little attention has been paid to the reviews written by children and teenagers.This paper is a case study on the English version of The Ventriloquist's Daughter,a fantasy children's fiction,based on the reviews of ordinary British teenagers on the website of The Leeds Centre for New Chinese Writing.It aims to explore why this book is well-received among teenagers.Although their reviews of the book vary from one to another,two aspects are in common:one is strong emotional experience in reading this novel,and the other is a deeper understanding of Chinese culture.This current study focuses on the representation of emotions in the English version.With the qualitative and quantitative comparative study between the ST and TT,this paper finds that a variety of strategies have been adopted by the translator to highlight the feelings and emotional conflicts of the characters,and thus strengthen readers'empathy.The paper also argues that the feedbacks of children and teenagers play a positive role in the reception of Chinese children's literature overseas,and thus should be given more academic attention.
