中国重要政治文献翻译策略的变化——以《毛泽东选集》《习近平谈治国理政》英译和葡译为例

Shift of Translation Strategy——A Comparative Study of the English,Portuguese Translations of Xi Jinping:The Governance of China with Those of Selected Works of Mao Tse-tung

本文基于第一手翻译实例,在语言、文化、政治等层面,对比分析《毛泽东选集》和《习近平谈治国理政》的英译和葡译的主要翻译特点,探讨其翻译策略的不同。文章指出,中国重要政治文献的翻译策略已经发生了变化:从《毛泽东选集》英译时的源语取向变成了现在的忠实原文精神的译语取向。

This paper,based on first-hand translation examples,attempts a comparative study of the English,Portuguese translations of Xi Jinping:The Governance of China with those of Selected Works of Mao Tse-tung.It analyzes from linguistic,cultural and political perspective the major translation characteristics of Xi’s works and Mao’s works,arguing that China’s government translation strategy has shifted from“ST-oriented”for Mao’s works to“TToriented”for Xi’s works.This shift of translation strategy is of great significance for China’s government translations and the international image.The paper also discusses the reasons behind this shift.
