摘要
法国翻译理论家安托瓦纳·贝尔曼(Antoine Berman)在其代表作《翻译及对异的考验》中提出了翻译的12种"变形倾向"。在译者的翻译实践中,原作所体现的语言多样性和创造性往往会受到"变形倾向"的抹杀。本文拟在该理论框架下对施咸荣先生所作的《麦田里的守望者》的中译本所体现的译文变形予以评析,从词汇、句式和语篇三个层面出发,结合时代背景、译者能动性、文化差异等多个角度对译文所体现的"变形倾向"进行深度探讨,并总结成因、提出改进方案,目的在于帮助译者在翻译过程中尽量避免同类变形倾向,保留源语文本的异质特征。
French translation theorist Antoine Berman proposed,in his masterpiece Translation and the Trials of the Foreign,12“deformation tendencies”in translation.e diversity and creativity of languages in the original work are oen eaced by“deformation tendency”during translation practice.Under this theoretical framework,this paper attempts to make an in-depth analysis of the translation“deformation”embodied in the Chinese version of Catcher in the Rye by Mr.Shi Xianrong at respectively the lexical,syntactic,and textual levels.It summarizes the main causes of deformation tendencies and puts forward suggestions for revision on the basis of social background,translator’s initiative,as well as cultural dierences.e paper aims to help translators avoid the tendency of similar deformation as well as retain the foreignness of the original text in their practice.
