伟大的无产阶级革命家,杰出的共产主义战士,中共中央在较长一个时期的主要领导人张闻天同志(1900年8月30日至1976年7月1日),以笔译专家身份荣登"五四"文坛,随后伴随他一生的革命生涯,并从事大量口译工作。翻译生涯由"五四"新文化运动时期(1919年8月至1922年9月)、美国伯克莱留学时期(1922年8月至1924年1月)、莫斯科时期(1925年11月至1931年1月)、延安马列学院时期(1938年5月至1941年7月)构成。他不仅是集口笔译于一身的卓越翻译实践家,而且是杰出的翻译工作领导者。其翻译成就,同他卓尔不群的创作、理论建树一起,为"五四"新文化运动、早期马克思主义的传播、国际共产主义运动、中国新民主主义革命、马克思主义中国化、社会主义革命和建设立下不朽的功勋。

A great proletarian revolutionary,a staunch ghter of communism and a major gure of the CPC Central Committee workable over a long period of time,Comrade Zhang Wentian(30 August 1900 to 1 July 1976)ascends the literary circle of May Fourth Renaissance as translator,which accompanies his life-long revolutionary career,in which he acted as interpreter.His translation career comprises four periods:the Period of May Fourth Renaissance(August 1919 to September 1922),the Period of Study at US Berkeley(August 1922 to January 1924),the Period of Study in Moscow(November 1925 to January 1931)and the Period of MarxismLeninism Institute in Yan’an(May 1938 to July 1941).He not only enjoys a double identity as translator and interpreter but also shares a fame of distinguished leader of translation projects.His brilliant achievements in translation,together with his literary creation and theoretical research,contribute much to the May Fourth Renaissance,the International Communist Movement,the Chinese New Democratic Movement,the Chinalization of Marxism and the socialist revolution and construction.
