摘要
本文基于Talmy的注意力视窗理论,对根植于莫言所著《天堂蒜薹之歌》及其葛译英语版本中隐喻表征的五种视窗类型进行剖析,挖掘视窗启闭方式及注意力分配机制之间的关系,揭示两版本在传达人物内心意向方面"同中有异"、"异中见同"的认知路径,并从社会语境视角反观汉英翻译的创造性文化样态、文化价值与教学策略,为我国文学作品更好地"西渐"提供启发和借鉴。
In light of Windowing of Attention Theory proposed by Talmy,this paper analyzes five types of Windowing of Attention rooted in the metaphorical representations in Mo Yan’s novel Ballads and its English version by Ge Haowen.By exploring the mechanism of window opening and closing with respect to readers’ attention distribution,the paper shows how metaphors effectively convey characters’ intention.This paper also discusses the creative cultural values embedded in the two versions of metaphors concerning the social context.The findings will shed some light on the translation of Chinese novels,provide valuable guidelines for teaching practices,and ultimately help promote the publicity of Chinese literary works in the English-speaking world.
