Cross Regional Drug Technology Transfer in China:An Analysis Based on Drug Patent Licensing

中国医药市场正经历着巨大的增长。作为研究型和高科技产业,医药产业高度依赖技术创新,尤其是从经济地理学的角度来看技术的空间扩散。在此背景下,分析区域之间的技术流动对于区域市场的投资具有重要意义。本文不同于以往的研究,重点关注中国专利许可所捕获的医药技术转让的模式,用于政策指导策略。研究样本由2000年1月1日至2018年12月31日期间向中国国家知识产权局提交的所有医药专利许可事件组成。由此,中国医药技术的传播情况可以可视化,通过对层级实体、区域进行排序分类和描述统计,为公司、技术持有者、研究机构推荐了潜在的技术发展和投资策略。

China’s pharmaceutical market is experiencing huge growth.As a research and high-tech industry,the pharmaceutical industry is highly dependent on technological innovation,especially from the perspective of economic geography.In this context,the analysis of technology flow between regions is of great significance for investment in regional markets.Different from previous studies,this paper focuses on the mode of pharmaceutical technology transfer captured by Chinese patent licensing for policy guidance strategy.The study sample consists of all pharmaceutical patent licensing events submitted to the State Intellectual Property Office of China from January 1,2000 to December31,2018.Therefore,the dissemination of Chinese medical technology can be visualized.Through ranking,classification,description and statistics of hierarchical entities and regions,potential technology development and investment strategies are recommended for companies,technology holders and research institutions.
