Toward Post-Western Political Science and Post-Western World Order:Yun-han Chu and the Chinese Intellectual Tradition

本文回顾和总结了台湾地区著名学者朱云汉的学术与思想。在职业生涯的前半期,朱云汉积极推动以问卷调查和政治行为、政治态度为中心的实证政治学研究。在十余年的实证政治学研究过程中,他一方面认识到西方政治学的自由民主意识形态和“民主化”研究范式的深刻不足,另一方面认识到西方政治学在认识论和方法论上的显著缺陷。在职业生涯的后半段,他一方面深入批评西方的意识形态,向当代中国政治学研究提示更合理的认识论与方法论,另一方面深刻和全面地批判美国主导的世界秩序,展望中国崛起对重塑世界格局的深刻影响。朱云汉的理想、情操与行动,可以认为是数千年中华学术血脉在当代知识分子中的延续与具体表现。

This paper reviews and summarizes the academic and intellectual contributions of Yun-han Chu,the renowned professor of political science at China Taiwan University and fellow of the Academia Sinica.In the first half of his career,Chu actively promoted empirical political science research centered on questionnaire surveys and political behavior and attitudes.During more than a decade of empirical political science research,he recognized both the deep deficiencies of the ideology of liberal democracy and the research paradigm of“democratization,”as well as the significant epistemological and methodological flaws,in Western political science.In the latter half of his career,he criticized Western ideology,provided more reasonable epistemological and methodological perspectives for contemporary Chinese political science research,and denounced the US-led world order while envisioning the impact of China’s rise on reshaping the world order.Chu’s ideals,ideas,and acts can be seen as a continuation and contemporary expression of the Chinese intellectual tradition.
