Poverty Alleviation and Reduction in China Since 1949: Historical Review, Basic Experience and World Signif icance

解决贫困问题、逐步实现共同富裕,是中国共产党的重要初心使命,也是坚持和发展中国特色社会主义的基本要求。新中国成立以来,我们党领导人民自力更生、艰苦奋斗,通过一系列制度改革和治理创新,使7亿贫困人口成功脱贫,被国际社会赞誉为世界减贫史上最伟大的成就。在纪念新中国成立70周年之际,系统梳理和及时总结中国特色社会主义扶贫开发道路的基本经验,对于我国在实现全面建成小康社会后继续解决相对贫困问题,以及为世界其他发展中国家提供可借鉴的方案具有重要意义。

Eradicating poverty,improving people’s livelihood,and achieving common prosperity are the essential requirements of socialism and the important mission of the Communist Party of China.Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949,the Chinese people have relied on themselves and worked hard under the leadership of the Communist Party of China,and lift 700 million people out of poverty through a series of system reforms and governance innovations,which praised by the international community as a new great miracle in the history of world development and poverty reduction.On the occasion of commemorating the 70 th anniversary of the founding of China,a systematic review of the poverty governance process under the leadership of the party and a scientif ic summary of the valuable experience of poverty alleviation and development with Chinese characteristics are of great importance for the full implementation of the Rural Revitalization Strategy at a new historical starting point,the promotion of high-quality economic and social development,and the contribution of China’s strength to the realization of the poverty reduction goals set out in the 2030 UN agenda for the sustainable development.
