As a coda for the book Back from Utopia:The Challenge of the Modern Movement(2002),it reflects on how the different contributors to the book conceptualize the Modern Movement in architecture and how they appreciate the values of that movement as inspirations for the current age.The paper moreover discusses regionalism,(post)colonialism and postmodernism as important perspectives to assess the movement in regard to architecture.Lastly it addresses how the paradoxes of history and conservation play out in the architectural heritage of modernist buildings.
