Design Strategies of Hyperbolic Shingled Roof:Taking Hilltop Gallery in Chengde as an Example

探讨瓦这一中国传统建筑元素,在当今时代如何和复杂造型的数字化建筑结合。从瓦诞生到如今,其用法被古代匠人、当今建筑师不断重新定义,利用新时代新手段,实现崭新的视觉效果,赋予其新的文化价值。通过承德山顶艺术馆来对此进行说明,展示了传统筒瓦如何和复杂屋面结合的崭新手法。

This paper explores how to combine"Wa"which is a traditional graycolored roof tile,widely used in China in the past and still available today,with the digital architecture of complex shapes.From Wa’s appearance to today,its usage has been constantly redefined by ancient craftsmen and today’s architects.They use new means of the new age to realize new visual effects and endows it with a new cultural value.The purpose of this paper is to show the new way to use"Wa"in a complex roof by taking Hilltop Gallery in Chengde as an example.
