Under the background of digital transformation of water supply,intelligent water meter is one of the important basic links to realize intelligent water supply as IoT sensing terminal device.This paper briefly introduces the classification of intelligent water meter,and compares the characteristics of different communication modes.It introduces the process and current situation of piloting and popularizing intelligent water meter in water supply companies,expounds the application effect and practical significance of intelligent water meter from the aspects of measurement management,meter selection,leakage management,service optimization and water use analysis.
