FDI,Industrial Structure Upgrading and Income Gap between Urban and Rural Areas

本文从产业结构升级视角出发研究了外商直接投资(FDI)对城乡收入差距的影响,并进一步分析了空间溢出效应。基于我国2005—2019年的省级面板数据开展了实证研究,中介效应模型的回归结果证实了FDI可以通过促进产业结构升级缩小城乡收入差距;空间面板杜宾模型的结果则表明FDI流入不仅对本地区城乡收入差距缩小有积极的影响,还产生了显著的空间溢出效应,能有效缩小邻近地区的城乡收入差距。控制变量中,人力资本和对外开放程度的提升有助于缩小本地区的城乡收入差距,并且产生了负向的空间溢出效应,在一定程度上抑制了周边地区城乡收入差距的扩大。

This paper studies the impact of FDI on the income gap between urban and rural areas in view of industrial structure upgrading,and further analyzes the spatial spillover effect.Based on China's provincial panel data from 2005 to 2019,an empirical study is carried out.The regression results of the intermediary effect model confirm that FDI can narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas by promoting the upgrading of industrial structure.The results of spatial panel Durbin model show that FDI inflow not only has a positive impact on narrowing the income gap between urban and rural areas in this area,but also has a significant spatial spillover,which can effectively narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas in neighboring areas.Among the control variables,the improvement of human capital and the degree of openess helps to narrow the income gap in this region,and produces a negative spatial spillover,which to some extent inhibits the widening of the income gap between urban and rural areas in the surrounding areas.
