This article is a report on the successful demonstration of the presence of the sensory nerve endings in a 3-day old puppy’s heart by the ammoniacal silver nitrate method.Three types of receptors with their finest terminal structures are observed in the endocardium:the arborization type,the sensory nerve plexus formed by fine nerve fibers with their terminal rings and the termination in"grappe de raisin".In our preparations,no encapsulated nerve ending is found.The so-called Meissner’s corpuscle found in the heart by Landau is considered nothing more than a misinterpretation of the transversely or obliquely sec-tioned myelinated nerve fibers.
