近代德国工程师在青岛的活动述略(1898—1949)

A Brief Study of German Engineers in Modern Qingdao(1898-1949)

近代德国工程师对青岛近代建筑甚至东亚近代建筑的发展都有深远影响。本文从历史和文献翻译准确性的角度,定义这一群体的名称为工程师。基于德文行名簿及其他历史文献,对近代在青岛执业的德国工程师做了基础性的统计和梳理。由于人数众多而篇幅有限,本文列举出其中担任要职或作品较多的15位,对他们的生平、在东亚的活动进行发现性的研究,纠正学界对其的惯常误解,为深入东亚近代建筑史的研究提供基础。

German engineers have produced profound influences on modern architecture in Qingdao even in East Asia.This paper refers to them as engineers for the reason of history and the accuracy of literature translation.Based on German address books and other documents,this paper does basic statistic analysis and reorganization of German engineers.As a result of the large number of engineers and the limited space of the paper,it studies 15 of them who held important positions or had more works.It also makes a brief study on their lives and activities in East Asia and corrects the longtime misunderstanding of them in academia.The whole work will provide a basis for the study of modern architectural history in East Asia.
