Production and Supply of KMT Military Uniforms during Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression

全国抗战时期,国民党军队军服生产主要依靠军用被服厂自制与民营厂商承制相结合的方式。全国抗战爆发之初,京沪等地相继沦陷,使沿海民营纺织工业严重受损。国民政府在组织工厂内迁川陕复产的同时,也大量增设直属军用被服厂,但产量仍难以匹配日益增长的兵员规模。国民党正规军与游击部队主要通过发放实物、领取代金自制或向地方政府征发等途径维持军服补给。而在这一过程中,出现的一系列军服供给乱象,暴露出国民党军的军需腐败、兵役弊政以及后勤保障低效等问题。

During the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression,the military uniform production of the Kuomintang Army mainly relied on the combination of military uniform factories and private manufacturers.Since Beijing and Shanghai were occupied by the enemy at the beginning of the war,China’s coastal private textile industry was seriously damaged.The KMT National Government arranged that factories be moved to Sichuan and Shaanxi to resume production,and at the same time,a large number of directly affiliated military clothing factories were built,but the output was inadequate for the growing scale of the military.The KMT regular army and guerrilla forces maintained their military supplies mainly by means of distribution of physical goods,collection of self-made money,and support from local governments.In this process,there emerged a series of problems in the supply of military uniforms,reflecting the problems in the Kuomintang army,such as corruption in military supplies,malpractice of military service and inefficiency in logistics support.
