Impact of Internet Development on Urban Trade Industry and Income Gap

基于2007—2016年282个城市面板数据,通过探索性空间数据分析与空间计量模型探讨互联网发展对城市贸易产业与收入差距的影响。研究发现,互联网人力资本差异是影响城市贸易水平与收入差距的重要原因。以互联网人力资本集聚为特征,将形成新的"互联网中心"城市,并通过改变贸易供求关系影响城市收入水平。空间杜宾模型的结果进一步表明,互联网基础设施建设不仅提高所在市的贸易与收入水平,对邻近城市也具有正的外部性。因此,在地区互联网基础设施建设趋同的情况下,培育互联网人力资本,增强互联网应用能力,将成为优化城市产业结构、缩小地区收入差距的重要手段。

Based on panel data of 282 cities from 2007 to 2016 and exploratory spatial analysis and spatial econometric model,this article analyzes the spatial evolution of internet development and its effect on urban trade industry and income gap.The result shows that the difference of internet human capital is the main factor influencing urban trade development and income gap.The cities,showing the characteristic of internet human capital agglomeration,will become new internetcenter cities and affect neighboring cities’income through the trade volume.According to the results of SDM model,it is found that the improvement of internet infrastructure is not only contributed to local trade develop and income level,but also has positive externalities to neighboring cities.Therefore,under the background of the development of the internet infrastructure construction,it should foster internet human capital and strengthen the application ability of internet,which will be an important means to optimize regional industrial structure and reduce income gap.
